Frequently asked questions

Below we answer frequently asked questions about our transport and logistics services. Here you’ll get a quick overview of the scope of our services, the solutions on offer and the information needed to make an enquiry.

If you can’t find the answer, or you’re still planning a shipment, feel free to get in touch. We’ll help even when not all the basic details are in place yet and, if necessary, we’ll give an indicative estimate and practical advice.

Our logistics services cover business-to-business (B2B) international freight transport — road, sea, rail and air transport, and multimodal transport where required. We offer an end-to-end service — transport and logistics, with the option of customs clearance and cargo insurance.

For sea transport we offer both full-container (FCL) and part-container (LCL) shipments and, depending on the nature of the cargo, also ro-ro solutions. Express and air transport are suitable for time-critical shipments; road, sea and rail transport are suitable for larger and heavier shipments. We handle dangerous goods (IMO / IMDG, ADR, DGR) and oversized cargo transport. We do not offer temperature-controlled transport.

The right transport mode depends on the nature of the cargo, the quantity, the weight, the delivery time and the countries to be crossed. Air and express shipments are suitable for time-critical shipments; road, sea or rail transport for larger and heavier shipments.

We advise on which transport mode best suits a specific need. Where there are several possible solutions, we explain how they differ in price, delivery time and transport organisation, so the customer can make an informed decision.

To put together a quote, we need information on the volume, weight, origin and destination of the cargo, and the desired delivery time. The transport price and the right solution depend on these.

If not all the information is available yet or the cargo is still at the planning stage, you can still get in touch. We’ll give an indicative estimate and help nail down the basic details step by step. Where required, we can also help communicate with the foreign consignor, check the data and work out the most cost-effective and sensible transport solution.

Yes, alongside international freight transport we also offer customs clearance and cargo insurance. We operate as a customs agency and help with customs procedures for both imports and exports.

Our customers are not obliged to use our customs service, but booking all services from one place makes the result significantly simpler and more convenient. Where required, we advise on documentation and duties and help you choose the right cargo insurance to minimise the risks of transporting the goods.

Yes, we handle dangerous goods (IMO / IMDG, ADR, DGR) transport, including energy storage systems, devices with lithium-ion batteries and goods in other dangerous-goods classes. Such shipments are subject to additional packaging, labelling and documentation requirements, and the shipment must be agreed with the relevant transport-mode operator in advance.

ETS Logistics does not offer transport for dangerous goods in classes 1, 3, 6 and 7. For dangerous-goods shipments we help assess whether the specific cargo is suitable for the chosen transport mode. We advise on the documents required (e.g. MSDS and the UN 38.3 test requirements) to ensure that the shipment complies with the applicable safety requirements.
